Where is transit most needed?
The map below indicates where transit service is better, about the same, or is not as good as the baseline transit service given the neighborhood’s characteristics. The baseline is the average transit service in Virginia given a neighborhood’s average block size, fraction of single family detached households, households per acre, and amount of households and jobs in the surrounding vicinity. Transit service is a combination of frequency of service, accessibility of bus stops and rail stations, along with jobs available in a 30-minute transit ride (with at most one transfer).
